Ellen Key (1849-1926) – Sweden
The daughter of a Swedish parliamentarian who was educated at a progressive female seminary, Key helped to found the Swedish Dress Reform Society, which abolished the corset. Her book, ‘The Century of the Child’, advocated for the rights and well-being of children and was translated into many languages.
In 1919, six years before Key’s death, Sweden’s women were given the vote.
